These days, most people have heard of “Crossfit,” which has gotten very popular in recent years.
Just in case you haven’t, Crossift is a special type of exercise created by Greg Glassman. It’s part competitive sport, part exercise routine, and it combines all kinds of high-powered workouts.

And, while you technically have to go to a Crossfit facility to practice “real” Crossfit, it is also possible to create a home Crossfit gym.
Doing so, either instead of or in addition to traditional Crossfit workouts, has many great benefits, making it very worthwhile. Plus, having your own Crossfit garage gym or rogue Crossfit setup is very easy to do.
Buy a Few Essentials
First things first, you will probably want to go out and purchase a few Crossfit accessories to get your home gym started.
Fortunately, most of the things that you will need are pretty basic and affordable.
Some comfortable workout clothes and shoes to match are a good start. You may also want to buy a few weights, both dumbbells and barbells, in varying sizes. The wider the size range, the longer you will be able to go without buying more weights, even as you progress.
Supportive gear, like gloves and wrist wraps, may be helpful as well. Simply buy the Crossfit equipment for home you think you will need and use. If you’re not sure what to buy, talk to someone who regularly attends Crossfit sessions. He or she should be able to guide you in the right direction.
Give Burpees a Try
While, when setting up your gym, there may be some true home gym essentials you have to buy, keep in mind that many of the Crossfit exercises you can do won’t require any equipment at all.
Take burpees, for example. This classic Crossfit exercise only requires your own body.
To do this exercise, you jump up, jump down into push up position, and then jump back up. In some variations, you even do an actual push up at the bottom.
This exercise is challenging, fun, burns a lot of calories, and will really get your heart pumping.
For burpees and many other Crossfit exercises, you don’t need fancy equipment. You simply need lots of wide, open space, so read up on your exercises and incorporate plenty of space that allows movement into your home gym.
Do Your Research
Another important thing to do as you set up your Crossfit gym is to research.
Crossfit is a complex world filled with all kinds of terminology that you may not be familiar with.
It is in your best interest to research not just the terminology but the types of exercises done, proper form, and everything there is to know about Crossfit.
The more that you know and research, the more likely it is that you will do the exercises correctly. This, in turn, makes it more likely that you will see the results that you want and that you will not injure yourself.
Watch videos, read articles, and, when possible, talk to people who did Crossfit or who have been Crossfit trainers. The more you know, the better you’re at home exercise routines will be.
Don’t Forget to Go Outside
As nice as it is to build a gym in your garage or your basement or wherever you choose to build it, remember that you’ve got a great gym right in your own backyard!
The great outdoors can be a great place for exercising. In fact, even real Crossfit facilities often take to outside for runs, obstacle courses, and more.
So, be creative! When the weather is nice and you want to get outside, think of Crossfit exercises you can do outdoors. Build a chin-up bar in your backyard, invest in a trampoline, or do anything you can think of to expand your workout outside.
When you use everything you have, both indoors and outdoors, you are practically guaranteed to always have a great, fun workout that will get you results.
As you can see, there are many things you can do to make Crossfit happen at home.
